Each students will make a yarn doll to take home.



Students will also decorate a Christmas cookie, so be sure to let us know about any dietary restrictions when booking.

Celebrate Christmas like a pioneer! Students will create homemade toys that filled stocking across the Prairies over 100 years ago. 

Length: 75 minutes      Cost: $45 per class

This program is written to complement the Grade 1 and Grade 2 curricula.  It asks students to consider how Christmas was celebrated differently in the past. The program addresses the following curriculum objectives:

1.2 Appreciate how stories and events of the past connect their families and communities to the present

  • Appreciate how the languages, traditions, celebrations and stories of their families, groups and communities contribute to their sense of identity and belonging.

  • Recognize how their families and communities might have been different in the past than they are today.

2.2. 7 Examine how the community being studied has changed, by exploring and reflecting upon the following questions for inquiry:

  • In what ways has our community changed over time?
